A few years ago the writer of David Lean's biography advertised in the South London Press to find out the information where the outdoor locations were filmed. One of my colleagues, who lives in Streatham, knew the answer and wrote to the biographer (I can't remember his name). I don't suppose the houses have changed much, apart from double glazing.

Incidentally, someone on this Board made the comment that Noel Coward was hardly the person to write about the working classes. He came from the working classes himself (though lower middle class was probably more accurate) so was in a better position than, say, Terence Rattigan.

Have always loved this film.

Just followed your link to see where it was filmed and found that I went to school only a few roads away!

I know South London very well so the streets and houses looked very familiar. Mention is made early in the film of Abbeville Road, which isn't far from Alderbrooke Road. The removal firm Bishop's Move also has a long association with Clapham, I believe.
