Leon Ames's part

I seem to recall his character being brought before the men, as he was at the US embassy in Tokyo. The talk begins as something important, but his speech seems cut or somehow not germane. Anyone else get this? Or can you correct me?

He was playing then Lt.(later Capt.) Stephen Jurika, a naval pilot and Intelligence Officer on the USS Hornet staff. Jurika was raised in East Asia and had been been Naval Attache in Tokyo in 1939-1941, as depicted in the movie (although Ames didn't look anything like him.) His role, a vital one, was to brief the air crews on the latest target data and give them advice on how to behave if forced down in Japan. This was also shown in the movie, although the scene may have been cut down in some presentations.
