A sad irony

When the Japanese picket boat was spotted, they launched the planes immediately. They didn't have to do that, they could have followed through with their original plan of launching them from 400 miles out because when the Japs on the picket boat notified the authorities in Tokyo they were scorned at. Nobody in Tokyo believed them so as a result the Japs took no action in preparing for the attack.
