Would like to have this movie in my collection

The last time I saw this film along with the sequel was about 5 years ago. I would love to add both of these to my collection. I don't know where to look and even if this is an option.

Did you ever find a copy of this movie? I've been trying to find it for years, and can't...if I could get a copy, or tape it if it were on TV, my goal is to give it to my in-laws, who went to see it on their first date back in the 1940s!

I have searched high and low for it online, but no luck. If you've had any, I'd welcome info from you on where to go. Thanks!

I also would love to have a copy of this film. It's my favorite book but I've never been able to catch the movie although I've been watching for it for decades. If anyone has a copy available or sees it being aired on any of the main cable stations, I'd really love to know about it.

I purchased a copy of this film from an online store called www.robertsvideos.com

You can find the purchase pages for Our Hearts Were Young and Gay and the sequel, Our Hearts Were Growing Up, at these addresses....

They aren't studio-produced copies and they come in a plain box, but unfortunately this seems to be the only way to get these films anymore.

Hope this helps some of you....

Thanks for the info, divanqbvm. Having purchased a product from this company, do you recommend them? How is the video quality?

I'd love to see this released on DVD but I have a sneaky feeling that it will be many years if ever before it is released. Some movies just can never capture enough market to warrant the effort to release them on DVD. Look at the very popular (at least at the time) Andy Hardy series. Only one of those movies has been released to DVD, and that is largely on the strength of Judy Garland's appearance in the film. But I'll hope and dream, and maybe one day...

It did take about 6-8 weeks to arrive when I ordered from this website (no idea why the lengthy order time is necessary, but oh well). Also, as I mentioned earlier, it isn't a studio-produced copy so the quality isn't as good and crisp as most of us would like to have, but it is quite watchable and in SP mode, so your VCR shouldn't huff and puff about tracking.

I'd love to see this released on DVD also, but considering that I've never even been able to find an old studio-released VHS (I don't think Paramount ever bothered), and the fact that there are no huge names in the picture, I'd be surprised.

If anyone wants to make a suggestion to Paramount Studios to release this film on VHS/DVD, here's their contact info (no e-mail address listed on their website, sorry to say):

Paramount Studios
5555 Melrose Avenue
Hollywood, CA 90038

I first saw this movie a few years ago in my early 20s and I thought it was hilarious (still is). Everyone I've shown it to has loved it, regardless of age, even those that were very skeptical and resistant at first (mainly because humor doesn't often age well in older films).

Aside from the title, which spins a slightly different meaning now than it did then, I can't understand why such a funny film and book haven't been remembered by more people.

Incidentally, if you haven't read the book of the same title by Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough, it's also hilarious and contains lots of other stories and mishaps from their trip that weren't included in the film. Not surprisingly this is also hard to find. Once a month or so one will come up on eBay if you keep an eye out (usually in the neighborhood of $5-$10).
