Ern and his dad talk about something bad in the air? what it is?

What does grant and his dad in this film mean toward the end that they
feel something in the air, something bad coming or whatever the line
is...that lately things have just seemed to be foreboding
something...is this a prediction of war, then?

reply

This movie takes place before world war two starts. That's what they are talking about.

If you notice that coment occurs as they hear an airplane overhead. That surely correlated to what was about to happen to London and Europe as a whole.

It's not his Dad, really, he calls all old gentlemen "dad" as term of friendship - it was a fairly common thing. Remember, his dad is reveled as deceased in the very beginning of the film at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.

But it could be understood also as he becomes a wanderer again and it breaks his heart to leave the place? Might the last chat with dad have a double meaning ?

reply

NO!
