What kind of dog is Jacob?

Does anybody here know the breed of the Brown family's little dog Jacob? I thought he might be a mixed terrier or a mutt, but I'm just guessing.

He had great breeding regardless, and he was a total scene-stealer. I'd gladly hand him a scrap ... or my complete meal.

I have seen many a dog show. He looks like a wired hair Jack Russell mixed with a Cocker Spaniel.

A.K.A. a fancy mutt.
