strangest idea about newborns in a movie?

That a baby cries because he or she doesn't want to be parted from the angel that delivered him or her. I'd never heard that one before and found it very disturbing. Is that so it won't hurt as much if the baby dies? The baby is happy to be reunited with the angel? Or is that the "refined" version for those who wished to forget they or their ancestors ever lived on a farm and saw animals full at it? I'm grateful nobody in my family was ever that "ladylike."
