Is it just me, or is this the movie that Bill Watterson based his Tracer Bullet Calvin persona on the most?

He seems to have alot more witty comebacks then the usual detectives, and a couple of his lines are kind of similar.

The payoff for slogging through an hour of boring is never worth it.

I think Watterson had detective novels more in mind, and doesn't cite any books or films in particular when talking about the character. Even then, he admits to being not that well-versed in the genre, and based his material just off of his impressions of it.
