---at the end. Think about it. It's just been a few hours. She's seen three people murdered, including her father she was supposedly devoted to. And suddenly she seems so carefree, so flirty, so ready to rock and roll. I don't believe it. Of course I want her and Marlowe to end up together, but this is just ridiculous.
Are you quite sure it was only "a few hours?" Marlowe was seriously injured and blinded, had recently suffered head trauma, and was even tortured and drugged for days on end prior to police interrogation; upon receiving medical attention he probably didn't make it in for questioning until the doctor should OK it. You don't seriously think that Marlowe would be up to police interrogation a mere few hours after all the devastation he'd suffered lately, do you?
So I think it must have been several days or even a week after her father's death, by which time she would have gathered her perspective and come to terms with the fact that her deceased father had been a horribly weak man but, in the end, did the right thing and redeemed himself, thus giving his daughter the closure she'd need to move on soon after burying him.
