The mine explosion scenes

This was a fantastic film with a lot of great scenes and direction, but early in the film when the mine explodes is my favorite part. They way they set it up, and then the execution of those scenes is great film making.
The first explosion, the whole room moves, the wall cracks. You never see an explosion you just hear them as the camera follows Susie and her reaction. The special effects in room was quite convincing and impressive for 1944. Each sound of an explosion serves to build the fear as she runs outside. It's a really well done sequence of scenes.

This was really a great film. Greer Garson was amazing in it.
