Eddie G VS John Wayne

The pivotal scene in "Winkle" smacks big time of a similar scene in 1944's "The Fighting Seabees". Both films came out the same year and had the protagonists each running bulldozers in a combat situation.
Happily Eddie G survived his tour whereas the Duke didn't.
