One of the funniest movies ever
Fabulous cast, full of great characters. Whacky like a real family. So charming, sweet, and really, really funny.

shareOh it's absolutely hilarious, we all about got sick after Norval walks through the screen door. And when their father tries to kick them and he falls on his back, I swear it looks like something you'd see happening to W.C. Fields. And near the end when news of the 6 babies gets out and Hitler demands a recount, that's hysterical.
shareIn the Golden Age of Hollywood, pre-1960, there's Chaplin, Keaton, "Duck Soup," "His Girl Friday," "Some Like it Hot" "Adam's Rib" and "Miracle at Morgan's Creek". That's about it for comedy masterpieces.
Bob Hope, Abbott and Costello, W.C. Fields, Mae West, Laurel and Hardy and others made a lot of great, funny movies, but I can't really call any of them masterpieces.

Indeed, any list of comedy masterpieces has to include IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, BRINGING UP BABY, and BALL OF FIRE especially. And for the 40's comedians, I think ABBOT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN deserved to be called a masterpiece for expertly combining comedy and horror. Ha, the reactions of the teen age girl who saw the A & C movie with me quite pleasantly indicated that the movie scared her. LOL
Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies
To be or not to be should be called a masterpiece too.
