6/10. Here's why:

A lot of the main characters in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS have a scene where they become unlikeable. The exception is TOOTIE SMITH, who’s unlikeable most of the time. The production is well-made, the acting is good and some of the songs are cheesy but catchy. Unfortunately, it feels like watching the edited version of a mini-series. While there is one main storyline (a father being offered a job in another city and the family has to move), there are too many other things going on. Everytime the movie went back to that, I thought “Oh, right! I forgot!” Actually, a movie shouldn’t have to go back to a plot in the first place!

Any thoughts?

I disagree with everything you say, but that's why baskin robbins makes 31 flavors. To each their own

I disagree also. MMISTL is an all time classic with a minimum of at least an 8 out of 10.

Also, when I clicked on your link you included movies like "V for Vendetta" and "Black Hawk Down" in your "Classics" category as well. HUH???

You don't think they're classics? Because you don't like them or because of the year they were made in?

This movie takes place over one calendar year, with the action taking place chronologically. The sections are helpfully divided by title cards depicting a still picture for each season which then comes to life. Lovely device. As plots go, this one's pretty straightforward. For a big family, the activity level and number of events happening over the year seems about average. 7.8/10
