Am I missing something? (spoiler)

I'd heard about this movie before, but I thought it was supposed to be one of those movies where at the end it's revealed the main characters have been dead through the whole movie and they just didn't know it. I kept waiting for that big reveal that they DIDN'T survive the ship going down. Is there another movie that fits that twist with the same premise of people stranded in a life boat?

That was an episode of The Twilight Zone I believe.

Not sure about a lifeboat version, but there was a trainbound one - Dr Terror's House of Horrors.

The strangest thing...

I've been looking for this movie (Dr Terrors house of horrors) for years. I remember watching it when I was younger and I've been searching for it ever since. Googling around every couple years when I was reminded of it... in hopes of finding it.

Well, today I was looking for it... again. Gave up, again. Thought I'd rewatch Lifeboat. Because you know, why not. Great movie. After watching it decided I'd check the comments section on IMDB just in case I'd missed something interesting. And you link to the movie I've been looking for for years.

Thank you for that! Another mystery movie I can cross off the list. Really appreciate it.

Soph.

You're very welcome, glad I (unwittingly) helped.

I know that feeling all too well. There are so many films I've got trace memories of but can't work out what they are. A lot from Hammer, it has to be said, so I've adopted a policy of basically re/watching any Hammer that comes on TV in the hope I'll get a few of those mysteries in the net.

By the way, not sure if you're UK based, but if so Freeview Horror channel seems to be showing Dr Terror every couple of weeks at the moment.

Unfortunately I'm in Denmark and we don't have a horror channel :c But I found it on youtube so I'll definitely be watching it later tonight.

I'm still shaking my head everytime I think about how I finally figured this movie out. For a good couple hours yesterday I was looking through titles on a list of "train movies". No luck. And it's not my first very extensive search. There's been quite a few over the years.

Anyway, enough rambling. Very grateful, little puzzled and super happy. Now I'm gonna actually watch it :D

This picture was based on the play of the same name by author John Steinbeck - who also wrote the screenplay. No big twist in the end - as that would have defeated the philosophy that Steinbeck poignantly stated. It is still, I find, a harrowing and compelling experience nonetheless. The performances are top notch, even when juxtaposed against those of today (some, myself included, would argue, they are better - more raw). It's a shame this film was not as well known as Hitch's other masterpieces, because this one is one of his absolute best - his diamond in the rough. I cannot recommend enough to anybody that hasn't had the pleasure of experiencing it.
