Did you see the kiss between Ms. Bankhead and Mr. Hodiak?

If you really want to see a great kiss just slow motion the kiss between these two when they are going through the storm at sea! Boy, now that was a great kiss!! No peck on the lips for those two!!! I need a cigarette!!!!

Oh, yes. Tallulah dahling was noted for her erotic enthusiasm. Constantly pursued by would-be lovers, Tallu frequently allowed herself to be caught, and the gender of her lovers was of no concern to her.

She delighted in shocking people. During the 1930s, when such things were not even mentioned, she would open conversations at parties with, "Hello. I'm a lesbian. What do you do?"

She allegedly bedded (or tried to bed) each of her leading men. None of the bios I've read have mentioned Hodiak as one of her lovers, but if that kiss is any indication, she sure put all she had into bagging him.

During filming, several crew members noted that Tallulah Bankhead was not wearing underwear. When advised of this situation, Alfred Hitchcock observed, "I don't know if this is a matter for the costume department, makeup, or hairdressing."

reply

LOL! I had heard that she didn't wear underwear, but I never heard about Hitchcock's "observation". Too funny!

reply

I don't know but I liked the kiss between her and Bendix better because Bendix's Gus had a look on his face like, "Wow, she really did it."

Hey, Toots
Hey, Toots
Give us a kiss

Priceless

'Cause I'm Black you think I did it?

reply

That one was actually better. I loved that scene. He needed it and she knew it!

reply

What's remarkable is how Zanuck and Hitchcock got that kiss past the Breen Office, as "open-mouthed" kisses were verboten under the rewritten 1934 Production Code.

Poe! You are...avenged!

reply

I just saw the film, but did not pay attention. But I have heard plenty of stories about the actress's amorous love life.

reply

I think that a lot of life experience went into Tallulah's screen kisses. She was very sexy.

It was not just Bankhead's move - the studly Hodiak gives Judy Garland TWO face-sucking kisses in "The Harvey Girls." The second, in particular, is a genuine wowzer!
