Should this movie have been entitled "Diane"?

The woman who was dead prior to the film beginning, kind of like REBECCA was?

If so, should Laura's name have ever been mentioned, other than as "Waldo's Consort"?

Diane just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

All the drama and relationships revolved around Laura.

"Rebecca" was more present by her spirit. I don't get the feeling the Diane had the same (or any) influence on the characters in "Laura."

reply

It should have been called "Waldo Diane Laura".

The story is about the murder of Diane Redfern . . .

reply

Exactly. It's more about Diane's murder than REBECCA was ever about REBECCA.

No. Rebecca and Laura were the women others were obsessed with in their respective movies so it makes sense those movies have their names as the titles.

"I have had singing."

reply

That wouldn't make much sense.

1. The movie is not about Diane; it's about Laura. Naming it 'Diane', who is only briefly mentioned, would have unnecessarily confused and distracted the audience.

2. Even though Diane was the one killed, Laura was really the one murdered. To find the right killer, the investigation had to focus on the intended victim, not the actual one.

I have a surprise for you . . . Diane was the intended victim . . . to think otherwise leads to senseless meanderings . . .

Hi hgmh --- how do you figure that Diane was the intended victim ? I don't think that that's supported in either the book or the movie --- or are you just pulling our legs ?

If you have something to say, spit it out.

Otherwise, you sound like an old crank, and no one pays any attention to you.

And, WHY did you reply to me?

I wish you'd get some new shtick. This bullshít is getting pretty old.

reply

To keep things in the proper sequence . . . Now

What does your reply have to do with what this film is really all about? It's about the murder of Diane Redfern . . . period! Even Shelby stated he didn't think the police would make a mistake . . . so, back to square one--who murdered Miss Redfern . . .

Did you actually watch this movie? Perhaps you just don't understand the meaning of the word 'intended'. I'd hate to think some people have that much trouble following a movie. It would be kind of sad.
