Elizabeth Taylor uncredited role......

Elizabeth Taylor was luminous as little Jane's friend Helen.

Anyone know why the role went uncredited ?
Was it as a favor to the director or to a studio ?
Or a chance to increase her exposure ?

Thanks !

I have no idea, but all I know is that the little Ms. Taylor was sweet and beautiful beyond words in it. Loved her cute performance, and she really looked like an angel.

Hard to believe that she was not yet 12 years old in this film. Already beautiful.

Nearly every cinematographer who filmed her has said that she had the perfect face: it was impossible to film her from a bad angle.

Wow, they said the same thing about Hedy Lamarr.

Has she ever looked like a child? She was like 12 going on 30 in this.

Quite simply, back then only major players were credited back then. Even in 1958 Mitchell Ryan had a rather significant part in Thunder Road, including several exchanges with star Robert Mitchum, yet went uncredited his first movie.

Lassie had not been released when filming began on JE, so she was hardly known to anyone, as her only known appearance was her film debut as Carl Switzer's sister in the silly dud, There's One Born Every Minute.

Elizabeth Taylor's character Helen is so tragic. I was surprised to see her turn up in this uncredited which everyone ought to see.
