Dog Attack

This is a great movie, but something about that scene bothered me. I'm not sure why, but it seemed like the only reason he did that was to impress her. Now, i dont remember the scene that well, but im pretty sure thats what i remember. Does anyone feel the same way?

Zach (Jo Cotten) wasn't egging on the dog or teasing it. The dog appeared to be a vicious one since it was fenced *and* chained. The incident served as a way for Zach to realize his reflexes were improving and then to deal with the post-traumatic stress in his room at the Y without a sedative.

He didn't seem to be phased by the attack, but it looked vicious to me.

Seeing as how it was a German Shepard if he had a gun he should have shot it down like a dog.

And that, Lauren, is how taxes work.

Oooh... good observation. The German Shepherd makes the perfect metaphor for the war.

I was struck watching this film how the enemies they talked about in the war were always Japanese. It makes sense given that it was the Japanese who bombed Pearl Harbor. America joined the war effort because of it. It's interesting watching that aspect in present day when the story of WW2 has become the the takeover of Europe by Germany and the atrocities committed by the Nazis. The Japanese were what motivated Americans in the war effort then.
