fun script. fun cast. and i'm not a fan of musicals. why is it rated so low?? sinatra, the tin man, dooley wilson, mel torme, victor borge, and the awesome mary wickes. not a dull moment in the whole film. gotta pay attention.
shareI have the opposite viewpoint. At times it was overly whimsical and main plot points either being rushed or underdeveloped.
"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".
I think that it works better as a comedy alone rather than the added musical additions to it. Sinatra's schmaltzy crooning slowed the story for me.
I preferred Dooley Wilson and Mel Torme's more jazzy contributions to the songs in this movie if there has to be tunes involved. And I always like to watch the whacky Mary Wickes in any film that she appears in.
