Is Henry V in Color or Black and White???

I noticed on the TCM schedule for this month the Henry V is stated as B&W. But the trailer I just viewed was in color?

Did TCM make a mistake in there monthly schedule? Just wondering. It looks like a cool film, by the way. I'm going to DVR it tomorrow @ 1:45pm (CST) on TMC. Also gonna DVR Richard the III after that movie.

It is in Colour, always has been, don't know if their is an older version but if it is the Olivier film then yes colour, and the Charge of the French Knights is spectacular.

It is in colour. And the colour is glorious.

The film has been remastered for high definition by ITV studios and is available on a 1080p Blu-ray disk. The extent to which it has been cleaned - frame by frame - has to be seen to be believed. The sound track - with its superb score by William Walton - has also been thoroughly renovated.

It now looks and sounds as though it were newly made. It can now be seen in a condition that is worthy of it. A masterpiece restored.

It's actually black and white but was colourized a long time ago and that seems to be the only version they ever show on TV.

I'm sorry, byor, but that just isn't so. It was shot in Technicolor, as the title of even the earliest extant script (in Birmingham Public Library) confirms:

"William Shakespeare's 'Henry V': Revised Treatment for Technicolor Film by Alan Dent & Laurence Olivier"

You may have been misled by the rather garish appearance of the colour, which was intentional. Time Magazine's admiring review of the film on 8 April 1946 noted:

"Photographic perspectives are shallow, as in medieval painting. Most depths end in two-dimensional backdrops. Often as not, the brilliant Technicolor is deliberately anti-naturalistic..."
