Why does IMDB have the title wrong?

Why do they have the title wrong on here? It's 'Henry V', is it not?

They get the title wrong on here quite a bit, it seems...

reply

Because that is the title of the play as Shakespear wrote it.

IMDB lists titles the way they appear on screen during the title sequence of the film (and more specifically the way they appeared in their original form in their first major screening). If you watch the movie, as the title appears on the screen in the film, this is the full title.

It isn't wrong. IMDB always lists the titles of films exactly as they appear onscreen in the credits, and that's the way it appears. It's also the way the title was originally written in Shakespeare's day.

For every movie except Iron Man 3 (or actually Three), oddly enough.

It reads:

"The Chronicle History of Henry the Fift with his battel fought at Agin Court in France"

in the actual movie. Henry V is just an abbreviation ;D

reply

They still got it wrong though lol Henry The Fift ? What does "Fift" mean ?

reply

Can't you guess? It means 'Fifth', in Elizabethan English. That's how it was spelt in the original published version.

reply

IMDb did get it wrong though - originally Chronicle was spelled Cronicle. It seems whatever you do something always goes wrong.

IMDb didn't get it wrong, the movie did. IMDb used the title that was featured in the movie, which was, as stated above, The Chronicle History of Henry the Fift with his battel fought at Agin Court in France.

Of course, IMDb has now decided to go with the abbreviated Henry V, so... yeah. :P
