Was this ever on TV/VHS with the "director's cut" ending?

I saw Hare Ribbin when I was a kid in the late '80s-early '90s, and was quite disturbed by Bugs shooting the dog at the end. I found this cartoon again years later (before the Golden Collection release) by searching online for the cartoon where Bugs shoots the dog at the end. But according to the Wikipedia article, the director's cut ending was only discovered with the release of the Golden Age of Looney Tunes laserdisc, in 1992. That's still within my "likely to have been traumatized by a cartoon" timeframe, but I wouldn't have known about the laserdisc, I never had a laserdisc player, and I don't remember any of my friends having one either. So why do I remember seeing this?

I've entertained the possibility that I saw Hare Ribbin with the theatrical (suicide) ending and misinterpreted it because I didn't understand suicide, but it's a weirdly specific thing to misremember, especially when the ending with Bugs shooting the dog DOES exist. So I feel like this must have aired at some point on some US network, or have been on a (possibly bootleg) VHS release. Can anyone confirm that I'm not crazy?
