FULL RUNNING TIME

This movie has sadly fallen into public domain, with no one maintaining the copyright. Because of that, it's hard to find a decent print. I just bought a DVD that is the best quality that I've seen so far, but all versions available now run between 96 and 100 minutes. The original release print was 121 minutes, so there's a lot missing. Does anyone know of a complete print of this sadly neglected gem? If so, please send me a private message.

Check Eddie Brandt's, Saturday Matinee. Just rented it, and I can't believe it was less than two hours. It felt like four hours. Could be the 121 minute print. I saw it when I was very young on television and wanted to see it again. It's creaky. Overwrought, over-written, so obviously a play; theatre's claustrophobia does not always work on the screen. Better to play a different angle, give the eye something new to scan: the beach, the church, the rustic town, etc. Love Anne Baxter but not when she is playing breathless Anne Baxter with all that facial business. Claustrophobia is not the angle to play, anyway. It's gossip. If they'd had the money, and let it grow from the daughter through the church to the town and back to the family they would have had a movie, not a filmed play. If this were another time, I would buy the rights and open it up. However, already had a couple of 'gossip leads to tragedy' movies of late.

I think the previous poster was referring to "Leave Her To Heaven," starring Cornell Wilde, Gene Tierney and Vincent Price.
