one scene and censorship

The scene where Don Ameche and Vivian Blaine are sharing a bed must have come close to challenging the censors. It must have barely passed their scrutiny even though the actors were unaware that they were sharing a bed at the start of the scene.

Yes, I wondered about that scene too. It was very rare at that time to see a man and a woman together on a double bed. I thought the general rule was that one of them had to have both feet on the floor if they were photographed on a bed together! Perhaps it was allowed because Ameche was lying on top of the covers and Vivian Blaine was underneath them?

You're probably right. I couldn't recall that Don Ameche was above the covers.
