This movie is a sadist's delight

The overriding impression left on me after several years is (a) the beauty of Ingrid in her white lace dress, and (b) her anguish. Talk about "lady in distress!"

Yes, she looked like a glorious, regal living painting walking down those steps in the white, low-cut evening dress. I thought that that dress wa even more beautiful than the lacy, fully-covered-up dress she wore when she FINALLY got outof the house to do some sightseeing, including The Tower of London, in the city with her lousy husband.

reply

I thought she gave an absolutely stellar, 10-star performance in this role. She looked and was MAGNIFICENT.

reply

She was good but I’m telling you - Boyer hit it out of the park. I don’t remember who won that year but, man, he is damn good in this movie.

reply

Wikipedia says Bing Crosby beat him out for his role in Going My Way. I haven't heard of that one.

reply

He plays a priest in that. I never saw it. Not a fan of Crosby or religious movies (unless the movie is The Trouble With Angels).

reply

Most religious movies aren't good, but that's because they're just Church commercials. Religious films like Martin Scorsese's Silence are amazing.
