Natalie Kalmus must be spinning in her grave

She was the goddess from Technicolor who approved all the colors used in Technicolor movies for twenty years back in the 30s and 40s. Her name appears in the titles of all the films she worked on. You must have seen it. She had the last word on colors of costumes, sets, and make up even, anything that went before the camera. Frenchman's Creek won an Oscar for best COLOR art direction and for TCM to show this film, noted for its color, in such a washed out print is insulting to their viewers.

OK I guess I'd rather see a bad print of this rather no print at all but really guys. The film deserves better than this. Let Natalie rest In Peace.

I felt like I could catch an odd glimpse here and there of what it was supposed to look like- many scenes sort of faded up into decent color for a few frames near the middle of the shot and then faded back out.

If they ever do restore it I just hope they don't try to crank it up to nuclear brightness as is the current vogue.
