I was wondering...

When Wedge disobeys a direct order and issues his men weapons and a bunch die, wasn't that basically murder? At the very least reckless endangerment and man slaughter. The families of those men had an air-tight civil suit against him and his company. They wanted to go, but he could've stopped them. By the way, I know it's just a movie.

Sounds like the basis of an episode for JAG!

Wedge's disobedience was treated by his CO as a court-martial offense. Hollywood justice dictates that an actor who disobeys orders (but saves the day) is exonorated. In real life, I can't think of an actual situation where a LT/CPT/MAJ got his command wiped out and then later got sued by the families. I'm not a lawyer, but I suppose these sorts of things are handled by military courts rather than civil courts.
