I LOVE all of George Brent's films...and I have only seen this one twice. I just can't seem to understand what's going on; the plot, subplot, conflict, etc.
I am watching this right now: Thurs., Dec. 15, 2016 @12:17am. If anyone can help me...I would greatly appreciate it.

An early version of a shrink gets involved with a rich family and falls for the wife. The deaths of the sister (the old lady on the train) and a guest at one of their parties that the shrink reads about in the old lady's diary makes him think they were murdered. But is the wife crazy, which the husband has been implying, or it is the husband himself? The film doesn't do much psychological evaluation as Brent becomes more a detective throughout.
Shows a fascination for a supposed madwoman, something Hitchcock would cover as well. It's a bit on the slow side though.
