What did Pearl Buck think?

I wonder what the author of the book thought when they chose these people to play these parts. She lived in China and made the book so authentic.

Well, what had Ms. Buck thought of THE GOOD EARTH, which predated this by seven years?

"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"

She thought good, with these top Hollywood actors in a movie based on one of my books, many people will see it and as a result maybe buy the book. What else could she think? The movie certainly stood a better chance of being seen with the cast it had than if it was cast with totally unknown Asian actors.
