Yeah, he was great.

LOTS of people, including just now, Eddie Muller on TCM's "Noir Alley" have strongly made that point. I agree! It's nuts that he didn't.

Absolutely. It's a crime that he never was nominated. The 1973 honorary Oscar was an insult. It just shows how stupid and meaningless the awards are. Purely political BS.

Definitely, I’ve never heard of Going My Way but plenty of good films that year, Lifeboat and Laura along with this one especially.
