Whats with the Blond Femme Fatale

It seems that in those type of films the girl was always a blond, with minor exceptions...ie..Lana Turner in "Postman Always Rings Twice"..I couldn't accept Stanwyck as a Blond...as good as she was. I was disappointed that Fred wasn't at least nominated for his role...I thought he was excellent. I also noticed that he and Stanwyck made a couple of movies, and she was always top billed, but not in this one...mainly he was almost in every scene of this movie.

Guess there's just something about blonds. The bad girl is usually a blond, although not in The Maltese Falcon. I'm sure there are a few other examples out there.

Ava Gardner, Gene Tierney and Rita Hayworth weren't blonde and they played very iconic femme fatales.

Nor was Joan Bennett in Scarlett Street and The Woman in the Window. Was very good looking though!!!!
