A Good Sequel

I don't know why I see so many reviewers complaining that this movie is not a sequel to Cat People. It seems to me that it definitely is. Some like to complain that there are no cats in the movie. But it's the CURSE of the cat people. Irina was the cat person and the curse is how her poor treatment by Oliver and Alice has led to their daughter having emotional issues and "seeing" Irina.

You've got self-centered Oliver and Alice from the first movie, who basically drove the already fragile Irina into full-fledged mental illness (or actual transformation into a cat if you read it that way). Their emotional affair had a lot to do with Irina's death, and they are haunted by their behavior, although they are still jerks and don't know how to relate to their daughter. So they unintentionally create a mentally unbalanced child.

I think it's a great sequel to a great movie. Ann Carter is fabulous.
