LAME!

This is probably the most boring and disappointing sequel I have ever seen. The original had a woman who could shape-shift into a panther as well as creepy situations and creepy visuals. This one on the other hand... good GOD is it BORING!! It just goes on and on and on and on and NOTHING INTERESTING HAPPENS!!! ROBERT WISE YOU BROKE MY HEART HOW COULD YOU?!!!!

Come to think of it I'm being kinda hard on Robert Wise. After all this was only the third picture he directed, and he ended up getting a whole lot better at his work with The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Sound of Music, and The Haunting. Sorry Robert Wise, you're still awesome.

I have to disagree with you. If you want the film to be the same thing as the first all over again, you will be disappointed. I don't really like the title The Curse of The Cat People very much. Although it is technically a sequel to the first film, the title makes it sound like a horror movie and it isn't a horror movie whatsoever. It is a touching tale of friendship. I think you should watch the movie again knowing what it is like. Maybe if you watch the movie for what it is rather than what you expected it to be, you might like it a little bit more.

Well yeah NOW I know what it is! But what I'm saying is that even though this was made 70 years ago its marketing is absolutely horrible and yeah it should not have been titled The Curse of the Cat People. I mean I guess it shows that Hollywood mogels were money-grubbing whores even then if they market it that way for the specific purpose of luring people in. But besides that there is barely any connection to the first film at all and it just doesn't make any sense! I mean why would the little girl have this same "curse" as the woman in the previous film? I mean that's what their suggesting right? That the woman who died in Cat People is her real mother? How does that work? They're not biologically related in the slightest! Why is this woman haunting her then? What's the purpose of that? What does she hope to accomplish? Even on it's own as a "family" film it still fails because there are just way too many plot-holes.

I don't think they were supposed to have the same curse. If she did, she would've turned into a cat like the first movie. I think that Irena identified with this little girl because they had very much in common. They both were extremely lonely in their lives, had overactive imaginations, and both had personal pain caused by the same man and woman. Because of this, they both bonded with one another since Irena's spirit saw she needed another human being she could depend on. That's the way I interpret the film, anyways. I could be wrong.

Why coulknt the author have called IT "redemption OF THE caT pEOPLE--BECAUSE iRENA DOES a good DEED IN HELPING THE CHILD And this does much to outbalance the savage leopard image

That would've been a better title. I agree. Curse of the Cat People makes it sound too much like a horror movie when it isn't at all.

I liked it better than Cat people.

They needed Jacques as director. Oh and a good script. But really, the first movie is a poetic masterpiece and very visual, and the director is the one who gets credit, even over Val Lewton.
