Filmed in Portugal?

The scenes in Lisbon look like they were really filmed there. I've been to Lisbon a few times; I don't recognize places exactly, but then the film is over 60 years old. Does anyone about the filming locations?

Filmed on the warner bros. lot. there was a war going on when this film was being created...1944... Portugal was not safe enough for making movies or any place in europe which was mostly occupied by the Nazi's at that time.

Thanks. Warner Bros. did a great job!

Nor was perhaps any place in the US either! High Sierra was the first major film made mainly on location, it was released in 1941, but in 1944 shooting on location was still considered adventurous and unwisely expencive, so the back lot was always prefered.
Normally, you can see right away it's made on a set, so if you think it looks anything like Lissabon, the Warner people made an extordinarily good job here!

Was thinking High Sierra too --- then Treasure --- Huston loved to escape the studio execs. African Queen is... duh.

Steven Wright: Right now, I'm having amnesia and deja vu - I think I forgot this before.

Just saw the film. The art director did a great job, but I think there may have been a few stock footage shots inserted. And one point, Henried walks on a real beach, which was probably Malibu!
