The Real Mystery

is why this film's title was changed to "Meeting at Midnight". Did it have anything to do with the sale to television and fearful owners of film worried that title could be construed as a slight on Black funny man Mantan Morland? Remember, he fiddles with book on magic all through film.

Let it be unsaid: insignificance is the locus of true increpation.

A credible theory. There were also seven other films using that title before this release (and even some not long after). When sold to TV maybe it was changed to avoid confusion with those others.

According to IMDb Trivia, the title wasn't changed until the Orson Welles title of 'Black Magic' was released in 1949.
