My favorite Captain America

I think it's very sad how Dick Purcell was forgotten. I think he is the best Captain America. I think he's even better than Chris Evans. Dick Purcell's Captain America makes the Chris Evans one look like a wimp. I found Purcell way more likable, he was tough and rugged. I also thought he sounded tough and assertive when he talked. He reminded me of Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger). When Clayton Moore talked to the bad guys, you knew he meant business.

But here's the sad part. Republic had to be stupid and change the story. Instead of being Steve Rogers, who is injected with the super soldier serum and becomes our secret weapon to fight the Nazis, he is Grant Gardner and he's a district attorney. They also took the shield away. They could've at least kept the shield. Instead, he carries a gun in the serial. Dick Purcell did give a good performance and looked good, but they were very silly to change the story. Dick Purcell was the first one to play Captain America and he played him during World War II. They should've had him as a super soldier fighting the Nazis. People needed a hero like this then.

The other sad thing is Dick Purcell passed away from a massive heart attack at the age of 35. He is my favorite Captain America and I like him more than Chris Evans. I honestly thought he was better. But I also think it's sad that the people were cheated out of seeing Mr. Purcell play the Captain America from the comics. The real Captain America should've been in that serial and not a new one they created. When you look at the time the serial came out, they were very foolish to change the character, the story, and his enemy. And to top it all off, they took away his shield. Dick Purcell should always be remembered and in my book, he was and still is the best Captain America. Maybe he was a little cheated too for not getting to play the real Captain America, but with what they gave him, he was great. If only he had played Steve Rogers instead of Grant Gardner. I think if Dick Purcell had played the Steve Rogers Captain America during World War II, he would still be talked about to this day.
