A funny way to discover Ms Durbin

TBH, not long ago DD was just a name to me. I knew nothing at all about her, but I like all things film, so at some point, I looked up her biography. She was coined the Sweetheart of Winnipeg. I am on a hockey website and an older gal who lives in Winnipeg is on there frequently, so I playfully posted a picture of Ms Durbin and said this is our hockey friend from Winnipeg. She's probably one of the only people who knows what I'm talking about. But I saw this glorious, glamorous picture of Deanna and have used it as an avatar in a couple places.
Finally I noticed Can't Help Singing on TV and gave it a try. Fortunately, I don't mind good ol' fashioned musicals, but this was much better than I might have expected. What I especially liked was how confident DD was with so much comedic material. It looked like she was having a ball. I'm so glad I finally saw a film by this woman I sort of adopted as a fave just from her looks and reputation. Viva Deanna Durbin.

I'm not a woman much less Deanna Durbin, but the old-time glam-shot appeals to me.
