Thanks for the info; this is one of my favorite old movies, and I would like my daughter to see it. We were just talking about it tonight with friends!

Just watched it today...some of the acting is a bit old fashioned, but it was still a great way to spend a rainy morning playing hookey from work. I remember the play version, called Outward Bound...

It's being shown again on 20 April 2006, Thursday at 2:30pm EST / 1:30pm CST / 11:30am PST

If I'm home, I'm gonna try and watch it. I love John Garfield.

I love Classic Movies. <3

reply

John Garfield is fantastic! What a shame his life and career were cut short. One of the most underated actors of all.

Hi, are you refering to the UK TCM or are you all in the US? I saw this film as a kid and it really made an impression. It took me years to find the name of it and now that i have I am desperate to see it again.

I have a tape running even as we speak -- In two hours, I will finally have both of them! Now I am just trying to decide, should I burn them onto the same disc, or two different ones?

I have all my movies filed alphabetically...

Does anbody know a)Where I can find a copy of this movie on tape or disc or b) When it will be shown on TCM or AMC?

reply

I just placed an order for it with Moviehunters 888 311 1018 Shipping time is 1 week Hope this helps.......JB

JB:
Thanks for your help. I called Moviehunters, and they want 40 bucks for a tape and 45 for DVD!! This is a total ripoff!!! I would pay maybe, just maybe, half that for a decent copy.

reply

You're right, the price is high but after a year on the hunt this was the only place I could get a copy. It's getting harder & harder to get films of the 30's & 40's JB

reply

Anybody in this discussion want to sell me a decent copy for a reasonable price?

I just finished watching it today March 4th 2010. One problem and this is going to sound really lame. I couldn't hold out any longer and cursed as I ran to the bathroom thinking I'd have enough time to catch the very end. When I came back it had gone off!!! $%^&

I ran out right at the part where he finds her on the sofa and is trying to rouse her. I missed what had the be the last 30 seconds. Please can someone tell me how it ended!

The film ends like so: Henry (Paul Henreid) slowly rouses an unconscious Ann (Eleanor Parker) on the couch after an unabashedly romantic, "Oh, my darling! You are so still! So steady! Wake up, Ann!" And then Ann wakes up with a gorgeous closeup shot and sighs, "Henry..." And then Henry says to the effect of, "My darling, we're alive! We can go on together! We can begin a new life together! Ann! Ann!" And then he kisses her while the scene fades to black to the single "The End" title with Erich Wolfgang Korngold's glorious music score playing over the soundtrack.
