I met one of the dancers in the water ballet

I play piano in nursing homes sometimes, and in one of the homes I played for, I met an elderly lady there who was one of the dancers in the water ballet number. Not one of the girls in the water, but one of the girls in those beautiful red dresses dancing outside of the pool. I know she wasn't lying because she showed me pictures and her daughter was there to confirm it. They also took me back to her room and showed me a casset tape of the end part of the song when Red Skelton is running by the girls dancing, right before Red jumps in the pool and Esther saves him. She was one of the burnettes in the second row. She and her daughter freeze framed and pointed her out. She also showed me a few photographs. They said I got their attention because I played the "Die Flandermaus overture" on the piano, the song that played during the water ballet. The whole thing was wonderful. She told me while filming, Esther Williams was the nicest, sweetest person, directer George Sydney was pretty nice, but Busby Burkley was not. I never got around to asking what Red Skelton was like, or Xavier Couget, or some of the other girls in the film. But I do know that the girls in the water ballet, the swimmers and the outside the pool dancers were only in the film for the water ballet part. They were a whole different group of girls from the girls in the main part of the film at the college, such as Jean Porter, etc.
