Cary Grant

Cary Grant may have been on record for disliking his 'over the top' comedic actions, but I loved it! He brought the funniest times to this picture and made it something many ages can love.

This movie highlights a different kind of Cary Grant performance. The role was perhaps best suited for Jimmy Stewart, but he was engaged in active duty as a bomber pilot at the time ARSENIC AND OLD LACE was made.

Still, Grant is always watchable even in his more offbeat film gigs.

I agree 100%. Sophia Loren, in the interview conducted by her son Edoardo Ponti, confesses that Grant has been the lifelong love of her life-- not just because of his wonderful personality but also because of his artistry. His performance in this film continues to astound me-- and to make me double up with laughter-- especially when I contrast the manic performance in "Arsenic" with his more subdued characterizations in films such as "Notorious" and "North by Northwest." The man was a genius, able to play the consummate clown as well as the debonair businessman and be utterly convincing as both. Sophia says she still misses his friendship, and one can understand why.
