Very Funny movie

I saw it on Turner Classic Movies and it was very good.

anyone know if this film was as good as whistling in the dark? i'm quite surprised there aren't more people posting about these whistling films.

cheers.

I realize "Whistling In The Dark" is known as the best of the three, but
I hate it! Talky and boring. I think the sequels, "Dixie" and "Brooklyn"
are far funnier.

Just saw these for the first time....Thank You TCM!!!! I liked ""Whistling In The Dark" the most (because of Conrad Veidt, perhaps????), but liked them all.

I did check the other boards and found very little or no discussion. I have noticed a phenomenon I call "The TCM Club" ....as in, when TCM shows movies which may be a bit obscure, there may be lively discussion for a day or so afterwards. Then the comments stop until the next time TCM shows it. I don't think a lot of these films are generaly available....

hullo xylonian-1. quite an interesting observation and i daresay you are right!

was veidt the chap who continuously uttered my favourite line - 'we part in radiant contentment"? priceless!

cheers!

Yes you would know him from "Cassablanca", but might not recognise him in "his" uniform. TCM did a great mini-bio on him, which was good as, up until seeing "Whistling In The Dark" I had only seen him in Cassablanca....

thx xylonian-1. i didnt realise veidt was in casablanca. will have to pay special attention when i see it again.

i actually sat down to watch the other whistling films and quite liked them. out of the 3 i'd say my favourite was whistling in the dark or perhaps whistling in dixie. must admit the gags with chester and sylvester was rather amusing!

cheers.

I didn't like "Whistling in Dixie" as much on first viewing as the others, maybe the hayloft scene went a little too long perhaps (????)....but would watch it again anytime. Of course with repeated viewings I may like it the most eventualy....

hullo xylonian-1. i quite agree the hayloft scene went a bit long and i thought the fox would have realised there were two chesters long before he actually did. ann rutherford was rather amusing, tho. her grabbing another villian by the head and hitting him repeatedly against the floor was quite hilarious. her character was rather a tough lady!

cheers.
