Who wears white to a funeral?

I absolutely loved this film, one of the best movies I have seen. But what woman would wear a white gown to her husband's funeral? Why doesn't she just wear a sign that says "I am a witch"? If she is smart , wouldn't she wear black like everyone else. That was very hard to swallow to be honest.

White isn't that celebratory of a colour, and as far as I know, isn't particularly associated with witchcraft. Usually, it just signifies purity and innocence.
