Glad I caught this on TCM
What a cast! All good performances especially Laughton and O'Hara.
shareBy today's standards it would be considered a propoganda film. but that didn't bother me. the performences were amazing. I was surprised at how touching the movie was. caught myself tearing up in alot of scenes.
Also the Nazi's weren't portrayed as cartoonish or over the top. I appreciated the movie more for that.

I'm watching it now and I totally agree with your assessment. There's a lot of nuance in this movie for a film such as this. And Laughton was outstanding.
