Ice Cold Katie Was Edited Out In The 70s?

Been a fave ever since it aired as a late night Sunday night movie, first day of summer vacation, and I stayed up to see it back in the old 4 network days (ABC,CBS,NBC,PBS), before recording devices.

Just bought it on dvd, but upon reflection, I think the Willie Best part was cut out 30+ years ago.

Now the black scenes and musical numbers were edited out of movies such as this when they entered the segregated sayuth, but I do recall the snippet with Hattie McDaniel and Eddie Cantor.

Tho it was well into the seventies when I saw this, I suspect it was a copy from the studio that already had the full number cut out, leaving in only the ending snippet.

After all, it was also a late movie!

Nevermind that Best was a MS native as well. We werent proud of him in the segregated days, so his scene was more than likely cut out in the forties.

Nice to see it complete and intact now tho!

Just saw this three years later. The actor in the is film was WILLIE Best. James Best was a Southern white actor who may be best known for his role on "The Dukes of Hazzard."
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"

I first saw the film "Thank Your Lucky Stars" on Chicago television (Channel 9, an independent station, had and showed a bunch of Warner Bros. films during that era). I am guessing that I saw the film in the pre-VCR era, perhaps the late 1970s. The version that I saw ran "Ice Cold Katie" as filmed as well as the reprise at the end of the film. Ms. McDaniel added so much to films, and this was no exception.
