stellar cast

One of the last movies directed by Wesley Ruggles. a 22 year old Lana Turner, a couple years before "Postman". What a cast! R. Young, W. Brennan, F. Bates, M. Whitty, G. Pallette, A. Mowbray. Got great reviews, but only rates a "6" as of today... ?... predicable but fun. All good, clean, comedy to take our minds off the war.

I completely agree with you ksf-2! And Lana's scenes with Robert Young are really lovely - they had a playful screen chemistry going on. This is one of my favourite Lana films (and I've seen most of them).

You can really see from this picture how Lana Turner would be destined for great things. She really has "it" in this film! Lots of charisma, beauty, sass - just so much of everything.

What a great line-up of supporting players! So many favorites show up here! ksf-2 mentioned several, I'll also add to the long list of talented supporting players Frank Faylen and Ward Bond, a few years before they'd immortalize "Bert and Ernie" in It's a Wonderful Life!

I think they must have given just about everyone a day's work on this film! Jimmy Conlin, Ray Teal, Ray Collins, Pamela Blake and even a young Robert Blake foreshadowing events later in his life, showing an early propensity for violence!... plus so many other wonderful character actors!

Don't forget Howard Freeman as Mr. Quill. A really polished actor. Always a great performance in any size role.

And Ward Bond as Jimmy.
