Lana Turner

Lana Turner surprised me here. While, generally speaking, I have always liked her work I was NOT always very impressed with her acting abilities. In my opinion I have sometimes found her to be over dramatic and appeared false. I believe this is due in part to the style of acting often found during the 1940's and 1950's.

Here, however, I found her to be genuine and natural. Could it be because this film was a comedy and not a drama????

Regardless of how Ms. Turner acted here, everyone would agree that she looked stunning. I particularly loved her hair, it was always full, fluffy and perfectly coiffured. Her costumes and jewelry were also very lovely.

I completely disagree (about her hair). When she started out as a stunning brunette, I was pleasantly surprised. Then she gets a makeover to turn into the typical "Hollywood sex symbol" with blond starched hair that wouldn't dare move out of place even in a hurricane. I was very disappointed. Different strokes, I guess.

I agree! I liked her better with the dark hair in the early scenes as well :-)

AGREED

I agree that Turner was genuine and natural, particularly in the early scenes and before the character's "personality makeover." She was fun to watch throughout the film.

Cheese fries...next time.

It's too bad she didn't make more comedies. She had a pleasing touch for it here (and a few films later in her career).
