José Carioca's comics

I'm quite fond of José Carioca and find it disappointing that he never really made any appearances beyond Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, and Melody Time (aside from brief cameos in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Mickey Mouse Works). I once read online that he's very popular in Brazil and even has his own comic book series, there (similar to the Scrooge McDuck comics that are sold all over the world). Does anybody know whether or not José Carioca's comics are translated into English and sold outside of Brazil? I'd be interested in reading a few.

I've never seen a José comic, but he was in two Don Rosa storys: "The Three Caballeros Ride Again" and "The Magnificent Seven (Minus 4) Caballeros".

They also print them in Mexico, or at least in the 1990's his stories were sold in Spanish, obviously. However his character was drastically changed into a brazilian slacker with no money or desire for a job. The comics revolved around the planning or execution of a con to win some money the easy way. He had almost no friends, as he was often portrayed as a selfish betrayer who sold everyone in order to gain something. There is almost no charisma that the José Carioca displayed in Disney's animated features, and he could be an entirely different character.
