Captured German Officer

You capture a German, decorated, officer-pilot who appears to be well educated. Wouldn't you assume he knew English? Weren't those who were sent into combat instructed as to the possibility?

Every third person who complains will be shot. Two people have complained already!

reply

I believe they suspected he did since they did ask him if he spoke or understood English. However, if he would not speak English, then they should have at least assumed he did.

Where they messed up was allowing him to be in ear-shot of their discussions and not properly restraining him when armed action was eminent. I would have hog-tied the S.O.B. using his own parachute cordage.

This is a very good to excellent film considering the conditions and evident lack of funding it was produced with, but as far as the writing and direction, I agree it made no sense that the German was not restrained in some manner.
