Panto Phantom

The Phantom's skintight outfit changes colour continually from lighter to darker throughout each episode! Wooden Phantom, egregious acting, appalling dialogue ... all entirely to be expected from a backblock job!

That's one opinion. I don't happen to support it. Tom Tyler was good in the role, it has a similar flavor to the strips, the dialogue is on par with movies of the era and no hokier than the junk that comes out of Hollywood now (particularly the Tarantino-esque nonsense), and it has terrific stunts. It moves along well and maintains interest. Most of the prints I have seen are in rough shape, which probably explains things more, since this is in black and white, not color, so the color doesn't change. The shad may change, due to lighting or the quality of the print. This does a better job at capturing the Phantom than the Billy Zane movie and certainly is way better than the Sci-Fi Channel pilot.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!
