'The Outlaw' DVD

Is there any possibility of a DVD release of "The Outlaw", perhaps to coincide with its 60th anniversary in 2007? There could be such features as a commentary track by Jane Russell and any other surviving members of the cast and crew. Any ideas?

May 22, 2006 -- 9:15 p.m. ..... At this moment, I'm watching 'The Outlaw' on dvd, put out by the PLATINUM Disc Corporation ... picked up a brand new copy from my grocery store two weeks ago, believe it or not, in a $1 bin, along with Bogart's movie, Beat The Devil.

I've had such consistently bad experiences with the poor quality of Platinum releases that I just avoid them now.

Much better, I think, would be to simply watch for it on TCM. Their print is better and you can always record it. TCM's website will even email you reminders of any movie you want, 1 week and 24 hours in advance of its' showing.

Of course, I haven't seen the Platinum release of The Outlaw. It may be fine. Just going by past experience with them.

The TCM version cuts out "the scene" that caused all the controversy.

Too bad.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to mention the two disc set from Legend Films. This includes black and white and colorized versions along with commentary from Jane Russell and Terry Moore. The picture quality is good (for the original black and white version anyway).

This is available at Amazon for $7.95.
